Tortoise Festival of ThinkIns – What are we for?

Friday 28 June 2019

Duration: 1:00PM - 2:00PM

16-19 Eastcastle Street, London, W1W 8DY

Status: Completed

What are we for? We’re building a new newsroom, one that’s open to our members and up for new ideas. We’re trying to use that newsroom to focus our journalism on the most important factors driving change in the world: climate change, ageing populations, finance, technology and identity. It’s early days for Tortoise. We want to hear from you what we should be investigating and where you’d like to see us campaigning. We’re going to use this time to set out our agenda – and learn from you what else should be on it.

The ThinkIn will be hosted by Chris Cook, James Harding, Merope Mills, Katie Vanneck-Smith.

Arrive from 12.30pm, starts promptly at 1.00pm.

Ticketing and how to book for members

Essential information – please read

Booking: You won’t need your usual member booking code but if you get stuck, write to us at

Security: Please bring your Eventbrite confirmation email(s) and photo ID with you on the day. Unlike normal ThinkIns, we’ll have security and bag checks on the door for the Festival of ThinkIns.

When to arrive: Each ThinkIn has an arrival time and a start time. If you get here sometime in between those two, you’ll have plenty of time to check in, get a drink and mingle before the ThinkIn starts.

Venue capacity and catering: If you’re doing several ThinkIns across the day, you’re welcome to hang around for food and drinks between ThinkIns. Please bear in mind though, our home isn’t big enough for hundreds of people so if it all gets a little cosy, the plan is to decamp to one of the many coffee shops or pubs close by…

Filming: we’ll be filming the Festival of ThinkIns as usual so we can watch the discussions back and share the best bits with people who aren’t able to make it in person.
