There is no doubt that, 51 years on from the Stonewall riots, huge progress has been made in the fight for LGBT+ rights. But you do not need to venture far from the rainbow-draped pubs and clubs of Soho to encounter anti-gay sentiment, both overt and covert, in places of work, learning, worship and entertainment. The BLM protests this summer have finally shown that racism against black people is white people’s problem to solve. What will it take to make the same shift in the battle to eliminate homophobia? How can more straight people be motivated to participate?
